Cubase 6.5.3 crashes on import of Broadcast Wave Multi Chann

Post by wavygravy181 » Fri Dec 13, 2013 4:44 pm

Good Morning All,

I am a production sound mixer who is using a Sound Devices 664 recorder to record sound for picture to SD cards. I then planned to use Cubase to import and mix those files (or other similar files delivered to me). However, once I tried to import those files Cubase quit unexpectedly. Here are the details:

Cubase 6.5.3 on a 2.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo Mac Mini 8 GB RAM OS X 10.6.8
Broadcast Wave file (8 channel file) 48k/24bit @ 23.976
Cubase Project set to 48k/24 Bit Broadcast Wave and Timecode set to 23.98

I can either select the file from the Pool or drag it into the project with the same results. The import dialog comes up asking if I want to copy to project or split tracks into mono files, which is what I want. No matter which settings I choose on this box the program crashes.

I can choose to record mono files on my 664, but that is not preferred and I will have to deal with multi channel files being delivered to me in the future as well.

Is there a fix to this bug or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks guys!

Perhaps updating to 6.5.5 will solve this.
