Compression and noise gate while recording question

Post by ProtoPablo » Mon May 08, 2017 9:22 pm

Hi, I'm getting to grips with using compression and noise gate as I'm recording a track. Once I have recorded the track using compression and noise gate, do I turn them off? I'm confused as to whether it is being compressed and gated again if I leave them on.

Hi,

Thanks for your message.

Cubasis comes with both real-time and offline effects.

Effect plug-ins such as compression or noise gate are non-destructive and therefore do not alter the original audio material. So lastly it is up to you or your taste to use them on existing audio material.

Hope that helps.

Best,
Lars

Thank you Lars, I'm getting my head round it a bit more now!
