Amount/Length of audio tracks - Virtual Instruments ?

Post by scarsosb » Mon Jun 04, 2018 7:38 pm

Hello all,

I am working on an installation that includes a long soundtrack that might be 12 hours in length. I would need your expertise to know what type of computer/RAM can work with this.

There will be at least 50 tracks of 12 hours each in theory. I wanted to know if Nuendo/Computer can manage;

- 50 audio tracks of 12 hours
- What is the limit of virtual instruments that can run as well in case I have half instruments and half audio tracks. I know that some of them take way more memory than others obviously. The question would be - with a the latest processor and full memory - can we run these or will it be a nightmare.

Many thanks for your help.

Regardless of the answer to your actual question it seems to me that the arguably better way to go about it is to work in 'segments' and have different projects for different segments. Then export what you need into raw audio and consolidate into one project.
