Re: Skinny Scrollbars Stink
There's no area at the ends of the scroll bars that increments a different amount of scrolling than would otherwise be the case if you clicked anywhere besides the scroll block area.
As per the linked post from Steve, modifier keys such as SHIFT and CTRL serve to make the process of scrolling easier.

Not sure what scroll block area means– the scroll bar? Anyway, here's this animated gif of me trying to hit the invisible scroll buttons. The invisible buttons do not make sense to me.audioguy wrote:There's no area at the ends of the scroll bars that increments a different amount of scrolling than would otherwise be the case if you clicked anywhere besides the scroll block area.

Re: Skinny Scrollbars Stink
I don't think so.. try redoing the test in your gif, but also clicking on the very end of the scroll "line", and compare the result (i.e. the amount of scrolling) with clicking in that blank area. (I could be wrong of course.. my brain is out on loan this weekSteveInChicago wrote:Are you saying it works different for me than for you? (watch my gif if you haven't)

If I click on the line, right at the end or anywhere on it, it does a larger move; in the space, say on the right-side end between the line's end and the zoom drop down menu, it does a smaller move. Could this be a Mac/PC difference?

It does seem to be the same here on Mac (and I have tried at different horizontal zoom levels)SteveInChicago wrote:If I click on the line, right at the end or anywhere on it, it does a larger move; in the space, say on the right-side end between the line's end and the zoom drop down menu, it does a smaller move. Just to reassure me.. in case I have never actually found the "invisible button".. what happens if you click elsewhere in that blank area?

So have we confirmed that scrollbars work differently between OS's?

I agree with all that are frustrated by stupid changes that only inconvenience long time users. Who the hell wants to spend time figuring out how to work with the updates to the program instead of making music. It is a virus! This notion that everything has to be continually messed with. Aaaarghh!
Please leave well enough alone and spend your programming muster in useful stuff, not breaking stuff that works.
And give me back scroll bars that are useable, visible and serviceable!!!

+1
I jumped from Cubase 5 to Cubase 9 and every time I work on a project GUI-stuff annoys me and there are things I look for in preferences but can't find / can't change. When your brain has been hardwired to a GUI for several years and suddenly stuff are smaller, or moved, and you can't customize it... it makes me wanna go back to C5 actually.

Re: Skinny Scrollbars Stink
+1 Scrollbars are too skinny.
Actually I've reconsidered, I like the skinny scrollbars.
I now navigate horizontally via shift + mouse wheel. With my low resolution screen I'll take every useful pixel I can get.

Re: Skinny Scrollbars Stink
Anyone ever stop and wonder about the decision-making process to make them skinnier?
And I wonder about the beta process - did all the beta testers say, "Yes! I love the skinny scroll bars!!".
W10 has a nice way of handling them - they are skinny until moused over, then turn big.

Re: Skinny Scrollbars Stink
Cubase’s navigational tools are like playing “Operation”. Pretty much the same except for the buzzing. If they added buzzing when you miss a scroller, that’d just be perfect.

Re: Skinny Scrollbars Stink
So, I'm new here and new to Cubase and at first I thought the small scrollbars were stupid but then by discovering shift+mousewheel I found I had no need for those scrollbars and shift+mousewheel was more accurate anyway. My 2 cents.
