upgrade Elements 8 to 9.5

Post by lcpr » Fri Dec 01, 2017 7:11 pm

If I update my Cubase Elements from 8 to 9.5 can I still use Elements 8?
Or does it exchange my license for 9.5?

And I have Cubase Elements 8 on my eLicenser with my old Cubase 4.7, can I add the Elements 9.5 to it as well?
Or can I put it on a new eLicenser?

How are both questions 1 and 2 yes?

If I update my Cubase Elements from 8 to 9.5 can I still use Elements 8?
Or does it exchange my license for 9.5?

The license is updated, so you will see only one license after you've updated. This license allows you to run earlier versions, too. When you install a later version, it does not overwrite previously installed versions. Previous versions will continue to run as before under the upgraded license.
Windows 10
Cubase 9.0.30, Halion 6, Wavelab 9.0.35, HSO, Finale, Notion, Dorico.
Intel Core i7, 16 Gb RAM, ASUS Z97-A mobo, 256 Gb SATA SSD system drive, 2TB SATA media drive, 500 Gb storage drive, G-Drive 3TB USB 3 drive
UAD-2 Duo, Yamaha KX8, Steinberg MR816csx, CC121, Waves 9: IR-1, Vocal and Horizon Bundles, L316, iZotope Ozone 5, RX5

Thank you - so if it overwrites my license, I ll have ONE in my product page that covers Elements 8-9p5?

Is is ok to put my "new" license on a new elicenser USB ? (like to have the USB key instead of the install C/R code)
Or do I have to transfer my old Elements 8 to the new USB so the 9.5 can "overwrite" it?

In other words - is it ok to run Elements 8 and Elements 9, each with their own USB key?

You won't be able to have separate licenses, no.

Your 8 license will disappear as part of the upgrade to be replaced by the 9.5 license with which you'll be able to run 9.5 and any earlier versions you may have.

>>Your 8 license will disappear as part of the upgrade
Thank you - that's what I thought.

So if I currently have my elements 8 license on an eLicenser, I have to have that plugged in to "upgrade" to the 9p5 (elements)?
I'll then be able to run either elements 8 or 9.5 using the eLicenser?

Sorry for the questions - just confusing with the options and I don't want to screw it up.

Oh and one more question - my eLicenser is generation 2 i think. Are these devices robust enough to last a long time? Or should I purchase a new generation? (yes, I like to have the eLicenser vs the challenge / response)
