VST insert plugin names too long to see

Post by SledDriver » Wed Dec 06, 2017 12:00 am

Is there a way to shorten VST plugin names as seen in the insert slots?

I use a lot of FabFilter, and as soon as I have more than a few channels and I shrink the mixer width a bit I am left with names like FabFilter...2, completely obscuring the important part of the name such as EQ.

Can a user change this? Or is this something Fabfilter or Steinberg would have to change?

I know I can hover over them to see the name, but when you are faced with a grid of FabFilter...2 it's really unproductive and error prone.

I asked FabFilter about this. Seems like it is up to Steinberg to change it.

Perhaps it's time for a 'short name' option for plugs?
