You can stack multiple actions, in fact. I’m working on a large project that requires lots of short exercises, so I’ve set up a single button to do the following:

1. Shift-A
2. Shift-B, final
3. Shift-R, coda
4. Ctrl-3 (Engrave Mode)
5. Shift-S (system break)
6. Ctrl-2

Streamdeck tip: I've set up the stream deck profile with some of the keyboard shortcuts written on the buttons underneath what they do. It helps me to remember them when I only have a laptop keyboard.

Hey Dan...could you please tell me how to do that?
If I take a 'hotkey', I can't enter text behind the shortcut....how do u setup a 'shortcut PLUS text' please?
Thanx a lot.
'Multi-Action' is the key ?

Search the right panel (of Stream Deck) for multi.
Drag a multi action on to an empty slot.
An empty list will appear.
Then drag a Hotkey action into the list, and set it to Shift+B.
Then drag a Text action into the list, and tell it to type |] (this is the quickest way of getting a final barline).
Then tick the "Press Enter after message" option.

It should look like this:

i'd like to transform some of the notation express keys from a hotkey to 'move to a multi action' key. but if i do this, the image used by notation express gets lost.
is there a way to transform a key-function and keep the image?

Nope. Tell me which ones you need and I'll PM the icons over to you.

a great...thanx so much Leo...
i would need the following images - cause I'd just like to add a 'return' hotkey at the beginning :-)
- add voice
- add 2nd voice
- Triplet (to add others)

That's it so far

Check your PMs. I've had to do this via WeTransfer - the forum PM system will only let me send one file at a time, and it doesn't accept zip files...

I'm using. MetaGrid and it has become a really important part of my workflow. To me the big advantage is that you can have much more "buttons" on the main screen so you don't have to dig down in sub menus.
The programming is really simple and the fact that you can have separate setups for any app is wonderful. When you switch apps on the computer MetaGrid automatically switches to the corresponding layout too.
And the best part of all: In the coming update this summer MG will have native support for Dorico. I can't, of course, say exactly how it'll work with Dorico but for the other supported apps (e.g Cubase, Logic etc) all or most menu items are already predefined in the app so there's no need for creating shortcuts in Dorico. I don't think any other app can do this.
Tactile buttons or not doesn't matter at all to me, but this last feature is a game changer (although I'm already a MetaGrid user... 😊)

I've asked Elgato about a 32 buttoned iPad app. They (sort of) said they were looking at it. I quite like the massive iPad buttons anyway.

I like sub-menus very much. They tidy up everything for me. I even have left some empty buttons on my main 32-button-panel cause I prefer working with sub-folders which are arranged in alphabetical order.

But I do think that MetaGrid is really a nice app. And 29euros is a reasonable price.
I also think one could design an interface with Lemur - I'm using it since a long time as remote control for Max/MSP.
Unfortunately the guys from Liine don't seem to continue their great great work.

Ahem. Notation Express XL is out, and (aside from all the stuff you know and love, now much better arranged), there's a whole heap of stuff that's been manually added to the underlying keyboard shortcuts.
For example:
Jazz Articulations
Noteheads
Mute/Unmute properties
Hide/Show stems
Cue-sized stuff
Ornaments (all of them!)
not to mention Time Signatures, Key Signatures etc. etc.
See https://www.scoringnotes.com/meta/notation-express-xl/ for details.

Andre, I have to admit, 15 keys (14 usable) was frustrating for me - you just don’t get enough on each screen, meaning constantly switching between folders. 31 usable keys makes a real difference - I’ve actively been using the XL for note input and modification for a few weeks now.

Yes, I’m exactly the same, Leo. The XL did it for me.

One publisher has some particular requirements, so I’ve set up a profile just for them. I have a whole bunch of shortcuts assigned to various combinations of Ctrl, Alt, Shift, numbers, and function keys... far too many to keep track of. Pair that with JSON hacks, and it’s truly a significant time-saver.

Leo has outdone himself here on the XL! The Noteheads folder is quite a feat :-) Well done!

I second (or third) the sentiment on the XL. The XL has helped me tackle Dorico much more quickly than I could otherwise hope to do and improved my speed in Sibelius as well. I'm a little scared to be without it now!

Hey Leo,
i bought the 29$ version some weeks ago - how can I update to the XL version? I tried a lot but didn't succeed.
Or do i have to buy a whole new version for having the XL - Profile?

Dear Peer,
As I understand the mail you should have received, you should ask Philip for the crossgrade and he'll get back to you (by mail). There's no automatic crossgrade through the site (yet).
