Out Now: WaveLab Pro 9 and WaveLab Elements 9

Post by Luis Dongo » Tue Mar 15, 2016 11:59 am

Dear Steinberg Community,

we are proud to announce the immediate availability of WaveLab Pro 9 and WaveLab Elements 9, the newest iteration of our award-winning Audio Editing and Mastering Suite!

This new version features an overhauled single-window user interface with new ribbon tabs and a multi-monitor-friendly window docking system. The redesigned Master Section provides twelve insert slots (five slots in Elements) and includes a high-class Resampler based on SoX algorithms.

WaveLab Pro 9 also offers full mid/side support throughout the whole application including editing, processing and monitoring in both the audio editor and the audio montage.

On top of that, WaveLab Pro 9 introduces MasterRig, a powerful mastering plug-in suite consisting of six high-end effect modules: The multiband Compressor, Dynamic EQ and Saturator that support mid/side processing per band, an eight-band EQ also with mid/side support, a three-band Imager and a Limiter. In WaveLab Elements, MasterRig comprises five plug-in modules: EQ, Compressor, Limiter, Saturator and Imager.

But that's not all, WaveLab Pro 9 also makes it easier for you to manage your files and projects with the new File tab and File Groups as well as the WaveLab Project Manager. Other major workflow enhancements include the exchange feature that links WaveLab directly to Cubase (and which will also be available for Nuendo), envelope-based automation for clip-based send effects, surround rendering for MP3 and AAC formats, extended multi-rendering capability and its customizable file naming scheme, among many others.

Check out more about the new features in WaveLab Pro 9 and WaveLab Elements 9 here.

Both WaveLab Pro 9 and WaveLab Elements 9 full retail versions are available from authorized Steinberg resellers and through the Steinberg Online Shop. Updates and upgrades are available as download through the Steinberg Online Shop.

Thanks for choosing WaveLab!

I noticed it says the minimum req for Mac in OSX 10.10. Should I not bother upgrading because I'm still running 10.9.5?

Apple has made it terribly inconvenient to upgrade to Yosemite and clearly I can't upgrade to El Cap yet.

EDIT: I've found this source for Yosemite:

http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/48498/os-x-yosemite

But I'm not entirely comfortable trusting the OS of my production machine to a 3rd party source.

Hi Hopetown,

the supported OS means that we have only tested the application on those systems and everything else may or may not work. If you are interested in WaveLab Pro 9 but don't want to upgrade your OS, you should wait until the trial is out (should be there soon) and test it yourself. If it works, great, but if it doesn't then you will have to decide if you rather stick with what you have or upgrade your OS and WaveLab together.

On the other hand, if you do stay with your OS and update to version 9 and then you find an issue, it might not be possible for us to solve that issue and we won't be able to offer you technical assistance.

Hope this helps!

All the best,

Ok thanks. That link I posted is to an update, not an install of Yosemite. My local tech shop is willing to install yosemite for a fee - more than the WL9 update. Please see this from the perspective of your customer. Nuendo 7 is not approved for El Capitan (last I checked). Apple will not allow an update from 10.9.5 to 10.10 - but now Wavelab will only support 10.10 and above....

You folks have left a hole and I am in it. Perhaps YOU could provide downloads of Yosemite to accommodate your own software requirements?

Hi Hopetown,

Nuendo 7 (from 7.0.30 onwards) is fully supported on OS X 10.9, 10.10 and 10.11. All current versions of our programs are supported in at least two OS versions, and are always updated to support new systems until a new major version of our software is released. That has always been the case.

All the best
