Well ... let's wait, till we put 'overlayed grid' through some thorough testing !

Actually, if the grid is overlaid on top of the waveform, isn't that better? Seems like it would make it easier to line things up

Thinking about it ...
I guess the old T.E. was a better solution.
If all gridlines ( bars, beats, sub beats ) go over an audio event,
that could result in a pretty 'noisy' view ( depending on zoom ).
With T.E. the audio waveform was always in foreground, unobstructed and completely visible.

Yes, the grid will have an adjustable transparency ...
not sure it that will be sufficient, though.
We will still have pretty chopped up waveforms.

Well ... at least it will be an improvement ...

very true , if your working on something that is 300bmp or more then the whole work space is going to look very crowded unless you keep adjusting the transparency of the grid which its self will slow your work rate down !

I have found myself in the past wishing for grid lines on top of events, could be a good one, also transparent slip, great.

Now if they can introduce proper multitrack timestretch for C6.1.0 I'll start eating Hampsters (with a silent p)

what are you guys talking about?

the very first item:
1) Event handling opacity
When slip-editing an event, the event will now turn semi-transparent just like when dragging and moving it in 6.0.2.

sure, it's not ALL the time.. but it's close enough. between that and the grid lines thing it should be pretty sweet.

We're talking about events being always transparent ( switchable via shortcut ).

I have begged for bringing back overlayed Locator lines, since that was dropped in SX1.
The whole 'bar, beats, etc.' - grid on top, is something different, though ...

I think it will take some time to find a usable combination of grid transparency and the individual grid intensities.
Like filterfreak said, there may be some extra work, with extreme song tempos.
( With higher tempos, you may want to make sub beats invisible, while You need to see them in very slow songs.)

We'll have to wait and see ...

Still would like to know, why it was not possible to add a simple on/off for transparent events !

It would be really good to be able to toggle the locator overlay as well.

According to some, the default Lanes behavior is similar or the same as with the previous V5 version and comping is an improvement in general terms.

Not quite the issue, we're talking about, little Cubase Padawan.
;)

Regarding Transparent Events :
We have some kind of fix, now.
You can adjust a 'Grid Overlay' parameter.
Not as good as TE but workable.
It doesn't look good with certain event colors, though ...
And sadly it can't be switched ON/OFF via a shortcut.

Hi DaDa,

So what are you saying, TE is fine depending on color used?

If so the color picker could do with some work (it does not have an associated XML file that can be edited) in the area of supplying standard colors in hexidecimal format, that would be a start but I guess we have got to collectively find something to pick on steinberg about.

My Colors are meticulously set up and fine-tuned !
The grid Overlay works with all but two.
T.E. worked with all.
It was just better in some regards.
( did I mention, that it could be turned off, via shortcut, for a clean view ? )

But as we Germans say :
Schwund ist überall.

Hi Jan

What would be "better" about the old way?

I kind of like the way events overlap but understandably if referencing events to a grid that is not easy to focus on (even if particular colors are a problem) would be annoying.
