Happy that game-audio developers get better integration. I'm not in that field (yet) so for me it doesn't matter, but more sold systems is better.

Excited to see "re-conform" as a feature. Might be very very cool for post.

Advanced collaboration could be good, though of course a prerequisite is more users... hopefully we'll see more of that...

"Post-Production Editing"...???...

"Redesigned User Interface" scares the crap out of me. The last redesign was two steps forward and 1.4 steps back in my opinion. Perhaps this is better.

The rest seems to be stuff we've seen in C8 already, though I'm actually interested in seeing updates to plugins. The native plugs have been quite sufficient for me since ver 5 at least, but despite that improvements would certainly be welcome.

Looking forward to this new version actually.

I really think all that means is playing catch-up to CPro 8 UI 'tweaks' (re-designed track header/track controls and other minor cosmetics). I'd be pretty sure its no complete UI overhaul or anything...

Can I ask, in terms of upgrade pricing, as someone on the verge of upgrading to 6.5 from 5.5, should I just wait for 7?

Will I have to pay for two upgrades this year if I move now?

Probably is my guess. In addition, check out the upgrade structure going from various versions to the current, and compare that to Cubase. There's a pretty large leap at one point, and one surely hopes the same thing won't happen again.

No hope of getting that clarified before it's too late though.

Looking at UK pricing:

from 6 - 6.5 = £85

5.5 - 6.5 = £326

4 - 6.5 = £407

So I'm speculating, based on this, a move directly from 5.5 to 7 will be in the region of £411?

Hi all,

just back from GDC - and WOW what a show! See some pictures on FB.
We've been running demos all day long but there was such big interest that it was
actually hard to show Wwise/PERFORCE connection to everyone.

More infos on 7 will be coming out over the next weeks. We're still in beta!

@ltf3: Yes, NAB will show Nuendo 7 with Nuage!

@Lydiot: Advanced Project Collaboration could also be translated to something like "Import Session Data" :)
Post-Production editing means some improvements with regards to editing workflows.
ReConform - yes, that'll be cool. Automatic audio alignment to video.

Cheers,
Timo

Thanks Timo.

"Import Session Data" will be a substantial improvement for film composers.
Very happy to hear it's coming in N7.

Does "click track" improvement belong to Cubase or Nuendo development cycle?

It won't make it in 7.0 but it is on the list.

Timo, I know the next version is supposed to have a VCA system that's a bit different from Cubase, and disconnected from Groups;

Q: will the grouping system be updated too or remain the same?

To me in terms of "competition" (you know who) the only things I really miss that affect and slow down my workflow are VCA's and better grouping. I'd love to see grouping implemented as good as PT does it.

Regardless, if you guys can get this new version stable it looks absolutely great to me.

And I'll keep bugging you about a release time-frame.... Q2 still looking good? Middle or end of it?....

I sure hope that "Advanced Project Collaboration" do NOT reflect the finished feature name :?

The name has to tell what it is. The above can mean anything really. Why not Import Project Data???

Import Session Data is not, and should not be, an Advanced anything....... No less Project Collaboration.

Are there any chance that this "Advanced Project Collaboration" are showing p in an upcoming version of Cubase?
Cubase 8.5? Or Cubase 9?

Thanks in advance.

It does, because it's not the description of 1 feature, it consists of several different things.
As announced at the Nuendo 7 preview @ GDC, direct drag & drop connection between Nuendo 7 and Wwise, plus monitoring via PERFORCE are just a few of them.
But there is more. :)

Ok. If I get you right, this "Advanced Project Collaboration" is more of a feature set then?

With "Import Session Data" as one of several Project Sharing features?

But "Import Session Data" could be classified as a Music Tool, not a Post only tool?
Where is the line drawn these days?
