Re: WaveLab 8.5 trial version available

So -

I wanted to try the Wavelab 8.5 Trial version. I signed up with an email etc., got an email with the 30 day license and a download link, but I could not download the installer. The link went to a page which was not available - the 404 error.
What's going on here?

I'm currently trialling 8.5 and overall like what I'm seeing . . but I am experiencing what seem to be bugs.
* Master Section: I added and saved some plugins in the 'effects' and 'dithering' sections and although they worked fine, they are not there when the file is reopened.

* Markers Section: Using the 'move markers' option I cannot move multiple markers more than +/- 4mins. I tried selecting all markers in the hope that I might drag and drop them but that didn't work either.

* Plugin Windows: I cannot move, resize, or hide these windows once activated.

I have recently 'upgraded?' to Yosemite OS X . . . could this be the problem?

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Not sure what you mean here. No known bug in this area.
Plugin Windows: I cannot move, resize, or hide these windows once activated.
Usually, plugin windows can't be resized. But they can be moved. more details would be needed.

Yes, this is limited to 4 min, because this dialog is for small adjustment. But by dragging the markers you can move them anywhere, or simply by editing their time in the marker list window.

Re: WaveLab 8.5 trial version available - OS X 10.10 won't i

Post by cmh600 » Mon Jan 19, 2015 12:56 am

Hi

Downloaded the trial for Elements 8.5 for Mac Yosemite and it won't install. Says I need 10.6 or greater. Looking through the installer scripts the error appears to be that it's evaluating whether the version is greater than 10.6 - mustn't like that is 10.10.

Tried this also with a Wavelab LE 7 I have and get the same issue - says I need 10.5 or greater.

Hi,
Thank you for your interest!

Would you please have a look at this article http://www.steinberg.net/en/support/con ... _sait.html and download the installer tool to allow the installation on El Capitan? That should do the trick. Upcoming WaveLab versions won't need this little tool anymore of course.

For WaveLab 8.5 a USB-eLicenser is required. This is mentioned on the download page for the trials: http://www.steinberg.net/en/products/wavelab/trial.html
WaveLab Elements 8 does not require a USB-eLicenser though.

Yes, I have read that now that I have been through most of the install process. I guess what I am saying is that maybe your page could be organised with all the information you need before you start installing.
I could have ordered this days ago.
I also don't understand why it is necessary for a 30 day trial. Could you please explain this?
The postage costs more than the USB itself which is very frustrating when I may use this thing and never want to use it again.

The trial version is simply a fully functional Wavelab, only limited by time. So the protection should also be the same as the full version. If you don't want the e-Licenser just try Wavelab Elements, like Ed suggests.

Actually, the headline on that pages says "You are already using a WaveLab version or another product with a USB-eLicenser?" and even includes a picture of the USB-eLicenser.
As mentioned, the trial is identical to the full version. Only the 30 day trial license is the difference and thus a USB-eLicenser is needed for it as well. I know that this is a drawback but many users already have a USB-eLicenser for other products. All others should really try the WaveLab Elements as the basic concept is the same.
